San Antonio Living Learns to Fence

San Antonio Living learns to fence at Olympian Fencing Club. The exclusive event occurred this week as Alanna Sarabia and the team from San Antonio Living decided to stop by the club and try on their epee glove and mask. The camera crew and reporter came ready to learn and eager to take on the new challenge as the 2012 London Olympics has generated a lot of new interest in fencing, partly due to the high profile marketing role fencers like Tim Morehouse have taken, appearing on many programs such as Good Morning in New York City. In addition to that, San Antonio has a key link with two 2012 Olympians on the women’s epee team in Courtney and Kelley Hurley. They also discussed Olympian Mariel Zagunis, the top saber fencer in the world and USA flag bearer in London.

The “Alanna Olympics” is a series on the San Antonio Living show focuses on learning Olympic sports that are taught or trained in San Antonio. Allana fenced Michael Patterson, one of our young fencers at the club during the segment. Michael showed her how it is done.

Alanna also discussed with Velizar our National Championship medalists Alex Sless and McKenna Carpenter (Velizar also brought home a bronze medal in Vet40). Both brought medals home from the tournament to wrap up the fencing season with the USFA.
